Steel Strapping Coils

Steel strapping remains the strongest option for securing heavy loads. Supplied in coils, it provides high tensile strength, rigidity, and resistance to sharp or rough-edged products where polyester or polypropylene strapping may not be suitable.

Used throughout construction, timber and manufacturing, steel strapping gives reliable stability for machinery, pallets and bulky goods in storage or transit. Its strength makes it the preferred choice where heavy-duty load security is required.

Our coils are available in a range of widths and thicknesses, designed for use with compatible seals, dispensers and strapping tools.

FAQs

Break strain is the amount of tension a strap can withstand before it snaps. Steel strapping offers the highest resistance, with break strains from around 560 kg on a 13 mm x 0.5 mm coil up to over 1,700 kg on a 25 mm x 0.8 mm coil. This makes it suitable for heavy pallets and loads which require maximum security.

No. Steel strapping coils are not compatible with automatic strapping machines because of their weight and density. They should be applied with dedicated steel coil strapping tools (tensioners, sealers, and cutters) to provide excellent protection and stability for your products.

Yes - steel strapping can be recycled once removed, providing a practical and sustainable option for securing heavy loads.

Yes. Standard black steel strapping can rust if exposed to moisture. For applications that require extra protection, we can supply zinc coated steel strapping on request.

Steel coil is stronger and more durable than polypropylene strapping coil, but that does not always mean that it is better for industrial use. There are several factors to consider when choosing the appropriate strapping material, including:

Strength: Steel coil is much stronger than plastic, making it a great option for securing heavy loads. However, this may not always be necessary; if your business is engaged in high-volume shipping of lightweight or medium-weight pallets, steel may not be the best solution.

Weight: Steel is much heavier than polypropylene, meaning that receiving coils into your operation may take longer. In addition, adding a steel strapping coil for shipping will increase the overall weight of the shipment, which may cost extra if shipping is based on weight.

Ease Of Use: Our steel strapping tools have been designed to make utilising steel coils as easy and efficient as possible, and taking the strain off of warehouse staff. However, automatic strapping machines have the advantage of being much quicker, as well as containing an internal mechanism to seal and bond the straps automatically.

Heavy Duty Pallet Security

Steel strapping coils are among the most effective ways to strap pallets of goods for dispatch and delivery. Steel coil strapping is most suitable for extremely heavy loads, as the additional tensile strength of steel will minimise shifting and movement by the greatest degree possible. Please note that steel strapping coils are extremely heavy, ranging in weight from 17kg per coil to 48kg per coil, so be sure to use correct manual handling methods when receiving and using coils.
